Russula raoultii (Quél.) Singer. Cap 2-6cm across, fragile; lemon yellow to yellow-buff; dry, smooth; peels halfway. Gills dose, broad; white. Stem 20-40 x 5-l0mm, clavate; white staining grayish brown. Flesh soft; white. Odor pleasant. Taste hot. Spores ovoid, 7-8.5 x 5.5-7µ; warts up to 0.75µ. high, almost complete reticulum. Deposit white (A). Habitat in deciduous woods. Uncommon. Found in eastern North America. Season August-September. Not edible. |
